UHMW-PE and Its Application

UHMWPE, also known as ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, is short for HMPE, which is high modulus polyethylene.

Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE) is a high molecular compound that is difficult to produce and has superb high strength, wear resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, light resistance, and aging resistance. This kind of material has the density of 0.975 g/cm3 and the melting point of 145℃. The temperature resistance can reach 70℃ max continuous.

UHMWPE can be directly made into ropes, cables, fishing nets and various fabrics. Nowadays, UHMWPE fibers have been woven into ropes of different fibre numbers, replacing the traditional steel cables and synthetic fiber ropes. UHMWPE fiber has been made into bowstrings, sleds and water skis in sporting goods as well.
